Orbital is honored to be able to run an EU LIFE project between 2022-2026. The main objective of the LIFE REUSEWATER project is to demonstrate our water recycling technologies to widen consumer access to innovative water consumption solutions. In addition to saving significant amounts of water and energy, we hope that this will enable a paradigm shift, in the form of humanity breaking a thousand-year-old pattern of flushing toilets, taking a bath etc with Earth’s most precious resource, drinking water.

The project aims to integrate multiple Orbital technologies into a single comprehensive solution, called the Orbital Bathroom, and conduct pilot installations in partnership with Guldsmeden hotels. The pilot installations will focus on three distinct segments: hotel, residential, and eco-tourism. A total of 90 Orbital Bathrooms will be installed, with 30 installations in each segment.

Hotel Segment: The first pilot installations will take place at Guldsmeden Hotels in Copenhagen. This phase will test the Orbital Bathroom in a commercial hospitality setting, where efficient water and energy use is critical for both sustainability and operational costs.

Residential Segment: In collaboration with Lunds Kommunala Fastigheter AB in Lund and BRF Brunius Residens in Ystad, 30 Orbital Bathrooms will be installed across residential locations in Sweden. These installations will demonstrate the Orbital Bathroom's benefits in urban residential environments, enhancing sustainability and water efficiency in housing communities.

Off-Grid Eco-tourism Segment: In partnership with Klimapatenschaft, a climate protection organization in Germany, 30 Orbital Bathrooms will be installed in modular facilities located in Osterode am Harz and Harlesiel. These installations will showcase the effectiveness of the Orbital Bathroom in remote, eco-sensitive areas where traditional water and waste systems are impractical.

By installing 90 Orbital Bathrooms across these three distinct segments—hotels, residential housing, and eco-tourism —the project will demonstrate the technology's versatility and its potential to drive sustainable water and energy solutions across diverse settings. The use of these three distinct pilot study settings will provide a sufficiently representative sample to validly extrapolate findings from the study. The ultimate goal of this project is to validate the functionality and acceptance of the Orbital Bathroom on a larger scale, ensuring its effectiveness for both product owners and end users.
